TeachersCount 2010-2011 Academic Calendars
TeachersCount is proud to present our exclusive 2010-2011 Academic Calendar. Along with each month, complete with important dates, are editions of some of our favorite 'Behind Every Famous Person is a Fabulous Teacher" campaign, including celebrities such as Carrie Underwood, Guy Fieri, James Franco and America Ferrera. Staples has underwritten the production of 200,000 calendars that will be distributed via Scholastic to schools nationwide. Jones New York generously donated their time and talent for the design of the calendar. Because of the limitations of our non-profit mailing service, we are charging a nominal fee of $5.00 to cover shipping costs. Keep yourself and your classroom on schedule with this inspiring calendar. To order yours for the new school year, click here

TeachersCount and Tonic.com
TeachersCount and Tonic.com want to hear your story. Tonic.com is a web outlet dedicated to promoting positive news stories from around the world. TeachersCount will contribute a column to Tonic.com wherein we ask different teachers about his/her experience, about what they do in their classroom and about themselves. The format is that of an informal interview--a dialogue in which the words of the teacher are the complete focus. The subject matter may range from special programs or initiatives — be they extracurricular or purely academic — begun by the teachers, to his/her life outside of the school: creative endeavors, stories about family, etc. If you are interested in being interviewed, email bgilman@teacherscount.org with your information and a short summary of your story. In the meantime, check out Tonic.com for our first edition of the column in which we highlight board member Esther Wojcicki and her outstanding journalism program at Palo Alto High School in California.

Teachers’ Lounge Makeover
In partnership with KDP (Kappa Delta Pi), Staples, Decor Demon producer and HGTV designer Brian Patrick Flynn and the HP Foundation , TeachersCount has successfully redesigned and renovated five teachers’ lounges throughout the country. Lounges in Columbus, Ohio; Burlington, Vermont; Providence, Rhode Island; Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and Springfield, Massachusetts have all undergone a complete metamorphosis. The refurbishments will allow educators to relax and prepare themselves for the challenges of the classroom in the comfort of a newly designed and livable environment. Before and after photographs to be posted here soon.

Teachers Can Earn College Credit While Traveling
GEEO would like to offer educators the opportunity to earn graduate school credit (3 credits through Indiana University) and professional development credit while seeing the world. GEEO also advises teachers on how to find funding to subsidize the cost of the trips. The trips are open to all K-12 and University educators and administrators.
