Landon and Tristan Donovan and Donna Kenney-Cash
Landon Timothy Donovan was born on March 4th 1982, in Ontario California. His talents were evident at a very young age. When he was five, he joined his first competitive soccer league. At fifteen Landon joined the U.S.A national program, making his international debut on the under 17 team (U-17). Landon would eventually move on to become the youngest player to play on the U-23 team. Soon Landon was drawing European interest and at age 17 he joined German club Bayer Leverkusen. Landon struggled to adapt to life in Germany and returned to his former U-17 team, where he led them to a semi-finals appearance and was awarded the Gold Ball for MVP of the tournament.
In 2002 Landon participated in his first World Cup. That year the American team advanced to the quarter finals for the first time since 1930. As Landon’s popularity grew in America, his talents were quickly recognized globally. In 2005 Landon joined the Los Angeles Galaxy, where he was quick to establish himself as one of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) top players. Since then, Landon has become the unquestioned leader of the Galaxy, and a strong asset to America’s international team. Landon played in both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, and in 2009 he led the U.S.A to the Confederation Cup Finals. Landon is currently sixth on the MLS all time scoring list.

Donna explains, “There are two things I treasure about teaching. First, working with students who have disabilities has taught me to be more compassionate, caring, and giving. Every day I felt lucky to be making a difference in these children’s lives. Secondly, I love taking a learner from a ‘non-reader’ to a ‘reader.’ It just doesn’t get any better than that!"
Donna credits her three children for being the “wind beneath her wings” when she was a single parent for many years before marrying Paul Cash, an environmental magician. “Paul and my children are my biggest cheerleaders. Josh, Tristan, and Landon are all so special, and in completely different ways. Josh is one of the most talented artists I have ever met, Tristan is an amazing, creative, and loving teacher, and Landon is an inspirational and hardworking athlete. I am truly blessed, and I am so proud of them!”
