Alec Baldwin

Before he was the star of 30 Rock and an Academy Award nominee, Alec Baldwin's fourth grade teacher Bernice Bard Hoffman recognized his confidence and ability to lead. She encouraged him to fulfill his potential when she wrote in his yearbook, "I don't think I will be wrong: Please save a seat for me at your inauguration!"

Alec Baldwin was born on April 3rd, 1958 in Massapequa, Long Island. Alec's father was a high school teacher for 28 years while his mother raised six very sucessful children including his brothers Daniel, William and Stephen, all of whom are actors.

Alec attended George Washington University. Before heading to law school, he auditioned for the New York University Undergraduate Drama Program. He was accepted and began his training as an actor in 1979. Alec quickly found success on television, the film screen and the stage. Alec has starred in a number of blockbuster movies, inlcluding "Glenngarry Glen Ross," a role that garnered an Oscar nomination. Some other notable films include: Beetlejuice, Miami Blues, The Hunt for Red October, Malice, The Shadow, Heaven's Prisoners, Ghosts of Mississippi, The Edge, The Cat in the Hat, The Aviator, The Departed, Running with Scissors, and The Good Shepherd. Alec also found a love of comedy during his numerous appearances on Saturday Night Live, a hint at his eventual turn as Jack Donaghy on the smash comedy series 30 Rock.

Alec is also an active philanthropist. He supports numerous causes including environmentalism, the government's support of the arts, campaign finance reform, animal rights and gun control. He is on the board of directors of the East Hampton Daycare Center, People For American Way and NYU Tisch School of the Arts Dean's Council. He is also on the advisory board of the NYU/Brennan Center for Justice and the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Bernice Bard Hoffman was born and raised on Long Island where she attended public elementary, junior high and high school. She then graduated from The American University with a B. A. and began teaching fourth grade at the Unqua School in Massapequa, N. Y. During her eight years teaching, she also earned an M. A. from Hofstra University. Bernice then took a lengthy leave to raise her childern after which she resumed teaching nursery school for several years and now continues as a substitute teacher in the elementary schools in her home community, Scarsdale, New York. Bernice and her husband, Richard, an attorney in New York City, have two sons: Mark and his wife, Leslie, and their three children, Leo, Jane and Alice; and Michael, his wife, Allison, and their son, Cole will be welcoming a little girl in May. Bernice's hobbies include downhill and cross country skiing, harvesting on an organic community sponsored agriculture farm, collecting wall vases and tole trays, creating a minature room box, attending the ballet, reading and traveling.
