Contest Question:
Please tell us in 200 words or less, about a student you would like to thank and what he or she did that you have to be thankful for?

And the winner was...Janell Hoffecker!! Here is Janell's entry.
M and I did not get along from the very start of school. Every day was a constant battle and I'm sure that both of us were quite thankful at the end of the 43-minute period. Yet, as we progressed through the school year, things changed. I could not pinpoint the exact date or time but something triggered a new beginning. We both actually began to look forward to English class! Unfortunately, the end of the year was bittersweet as M was moving down south. On the last day of school, she quickly handed me a letter and ran off. That was the last that I saw of her. However, she left me with the most beautiful, gracious, appreciate letter that I will always cherish. I read her letter on my most horrible days and am always reminded that it is because of students such as M, that I continue to teach. I am reminded of the challenges that we encountered but more importantly, am reminded that we both made a difference in each others' lives. Thank you, M, for being the beautiful, young woman, that you are. Don't ever give up on your dreams; you can achieve so much!
